1959
A Bellevue Beginning
Ken Greenbaum opens Ken’s Suburban Furniture on Bellevue Way with two employees, in a former church building.
1967
Moving Up Bellevue Way
Relocates north on Bellevue Way to the building later known for Pier 1 Imports.
1982
Present Site by I-405
Opens at today’s Bellevue location beside I-405 as the Bellevue Furniture Center, home to both Ken Schoenfeld Furniture and Ken’s Suburban Furniture.
1989
Bellingham Addition
Acquires Levins Home Furnishings in Bellingham.
1990
Woodinville Service Center
Opens a 80,000-sq-ft facility in Woodinville for delivery, service, receiving, shipping, and inventory storage.
1992
Portfolio Changes
Acquires Ken Schoenfeld Furniture of Parkway Plaza and closes the Bellingham location.
1994
Becoming Greenbaum Home Furnishings
Acquires the Ken Schoenfeld Corporation, combining into a 44,000-sq-ft showroom and adding Lynnwood and Tacoma locations; the name changes to Greenbaum Home Furnishings.
1996
One Roof in Bellevue
Consolidates operations to Bellevue; Lynnwood, Tacoma, and Tukwila stores close.
2004
“Quality Street” Homes
Participates in the “Quality Street” tour of homes in Newcastle.
2005
Next Generation Leadership
Ken retires; Cindy, Steve, and Jon continue running the business. The team also contributes to ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover in Port Orchard.
2009
50 Years & Greener Lighting
Marks the 50th anniversary and upgrades to ceramic-halide lighting—cutting emissions while saving energy costs.
2010
Remodel & Recognition
Remodels the showroom and landscaping; voted “Best of Bellevue” by the Bellevue Reporter.
2011
Best of Bellevue (Again)
Repeats “Best of Bellevue”; many employees have been with the family 20+ years.
2012
Three-Peat
Voted “Best Furniture Store” by the Bellevue Reporter for a third consecutive year.
2013
Best of 425
Readers of 425 Magazine vote Greenbaum “Best of 425” for furniture stores.
2014
Angie’s List Honor
Earns Angie’s List “Super Service Award.”
2015
Community Support
Donates $25,000+ of furniture to Bellevue’s Olive Crest office.
2016

Wins “Best of 425” for furniture stores.
2017
Major Roof Replacement
Fully replaces the roof at the Bellevue building (their home since 1982).

Voted “Best of 425” for 2018.

2020
Closure & Comeback
Navigates the first temporary closure on March 25; reopens June 1 with 100% of employees back.

425 Idea House
Partners with Lochwood-Lozier to furnish the 425 Magazine Idea House in Woodinville.
2022
Bellevue Lifespring
Sponsors the Bellevue Lifespring Luncheon.
2023
Local Sports Support
